Job Description
Chai Pani is a renowned restaurant group specializing in Indian street food that is groundbreaking, fun, affordable, and delicious. The term "Chai Pani" in India refers to going out for a cup of tea, a tasty bite, a snack, or "a little something," which perfectly embodies the brand's identity. At Chai Pani, the passion lies in making people happy and building connections through good food and compassionate hospitality. The chain has garnered significant acclaim, including seven James Beard nominations and a win for Outstanding Restaurant in 2022 for Chai Pani Asheville. The restaurant has also earned a Zagat award and has been featured in prominent publications such as Bon Appetit, Saveur, Food & Wine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Local Palate, The Huffington Post, Southern Living, USA Today, and was recognized as one of Oprah's Favorite Things.
The company takes pride in its growth and success and is focused on the next phase of its journey. This journey includes a mission to provide extraordinary hospitality and to change the perception of Indian cuisine in America. Currently, Chai Pani is accepting applications for Line Cook positions to join their dynamic kitchen team.
The Line Cook role at Chai Pani is crucial to ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and produces high-quality, flavorful dishes reflective of Indian street food traditions. Line Cooks are responsible for preparing food necessary for daily operations, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, and ensuring that all sanitation standards meet or exceed health code requirements. The position demands consistency, precision, and passion to deliver food that delights customers time after time.
Beyond technical skills, the role involves embracing and preserving the company culture characterized by compassion, integrity, generosity, and respect. The ability to work well within a team, demonstrate reliability, and uphold a professional attitude in line with company policies is essential.
This is a part-time position offering up to 20 hours per week at the start, with flexibility needed for weekend shifts including Saturday and Sunday mornings. Candidates with one to two years of experience working on the line in a busy restaurant are preferred. Chai Pani values work-life harmony and is committed to supporting their employees through competitive pay, flexible schedules, and comprehensive benefits.
The benefits package for this role includes medical, dental, vision, disability, dependent care FSA, supplemental life insurance for full-time members, and company-paid life insurance available to both full-time and part-time team members. Employees enjoy paid sick days, free shift meals, an employee discount on merchandise and products across multiple restaurant locations in Asheville, Charlotte, and Atlanta, as well as a cash advance program. Moreover, there is an exciting opportunity for employees to apply for an annual staff trip to India after one year of employment.
Chai Pani is deeply committed to giving back to the community, partnering with education non-profits in Mumbai, feeding the homeless with dignity, and maintaining an inclusive work environment that fosters personal and professional growth. Joining Chai Pani means becoming a part of a team that is passionate not only about exceptional Indian street food but also about making a positive difference in the community and cultivating a workplace where everyone thrives.
