Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise line operating in the United States, specializing in providing exceptional river cruise experiences along America's iconic rivers. With a diverse fleet of contemporary riverboats to paddlewheel steamboats, the company offers guests the opportunity to explore the nation’s waterways while enjoying first-class amenities and attentive service. Known for its commitment to quality and excellence, American Cruise Lines emphasizes core values such as optimism, commitment, patriotism, and merit, which are deeply embedded in their culture and operations. The company prides itself on sharing America’s story through memorable journeys on the finest American ships, delivering an unparalleled combination of comfort, classic charm, and modern luxury.

The Line Cook position aboard American Cruise Lines' ships is a critical role that contributes directly to the culinary excellence offered during the cruise experience. This role requires a dynamic and skilled culinary professional who will be responsible for all aspects of food production, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the guests on board. As part of a dedicated culinary team, the Line Cook works closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to produce high-quality dishes that align with menus inspired by local and regional specialties. The role demands a passion for cooking, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Living and working onboard the ship offers a unique and rewarding experience, with comfortable accommodations and a well-equipped galley boasting spectacular views along the rivers. Due to the nature of the cruise environment, candidates must be prepared to perform essential job functions in conditions that include ship motions like surge, sway, roll, and pitch. The Line Cook must be able to multitask, adhere to strict schedules, and collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and an exceptional dining experience for every meal. This full-time, exempt position includes a 7-day workweek schedule onboard with 6 weeks of active work and 2 weeks of unpaid vacation, which provides an exciting opportunity to travel while honing culinary skills in a unique setting.

Compensation is competitive and complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and covered expenses such as travel, room and board, uniforms, and training. American Cruise Lines is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, ensuring fair employment practices based on business needs and qualifications without discrimination.
