The current opportunity is for a Cook at PopStroke, a non-exempt role with an hourly pay range of $16 to $22. This position is ideal for culinary enthusiasts who are passionate about transforming ingredients into memorable dishes while maintaining high standards of quality and sanitation. As a Cook at PopStroke, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality culinary services for guests. Your responsibilities will include preparing food safely and efficiently following established guidelines, managing portion control to reduce waste and increase profitability, and maintaining cleanliness in all kitchen areas. You will work collaboratively with your fellow kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely meal service. This role also includes assisting with inventory management and supporting dishwashing and food prep duties when needed. Safety, sanitation, and adherence to all protocols are key priorities.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel and reach for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 lbs
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy trays and multiple plates from the kitchen to tables
  • Must be able to safely use a ladder
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cook in a high-volume environment
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking methods and techniques
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift and carry up to 40 lbs

Job Duties

  • Ensure the highest quality of culinary services for our guests
  • Quickly, safely, and efficiently prepare food in accordance with our preparation and execution standards
  • Follow established portion control procedures to minimize food waste and maximize profitability
  • Accurately utilize technology to recognize and complete food ticket orders
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment, countertops, walk-in coolers, and storage areas, to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, rotating ingredients, labeling prep items, receiving supplies, and notifying the chef or manager of any shortages or discrepancies
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to maintain efficient workflow and communicate effectively to ensure timely preparation and service of meals
  • Assist with dishwashing and food prep duties as needed
  • Maintain a high degree of standards in cleanliness and sanitation at all times
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Remove trash, safely operate a trash compactor, and ensure cleanliness of the trash compactor area
  • Other duties as assigned
