The Line Cook role is crucial to our operations, responsible for preparing meals that consistently meet our standards for taste and presentation. This position requires a skilled cook who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The Line Cook will work closely with the Kitchen Manager and other team members to ensure all food is prepared according to menu specifications and that service flow remains uninterrupted. This role involves setting up workstations, preparing ingredients, cooking various dishes using different equipment, and ensuring that all safety and sanitation policies are thoroughly observed. Candidates for this position should be knowledgeable about cooking procedures such as grilling, baking, and boiling, as well as experienced in using kitchen tools and handling food storage properly.

In addition to food preparation, the Line Cook is responsible for monitoring inventory levels, placing orders for supplies as needed, and assisting with kitchen maintenance tasks including daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning routines. Proficiency with our POS system or a willingness to learn is also essential, as this ensures smooth service and accurate order handling. Physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds are important, as the role requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive motions. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be adept at working in a team-oriented environment, and possess or be willing to obtain ServSafe certification shortly after hiring. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in cooking or food preparation
  • Ability to stand for long periods and traverse kitchen area
  • Capability to lift up to 60 pounds without assistance
  • Familiarity with kitchen safety and sanitation standards
  • Willingness to obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days if not already certified
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and overtime
  • Basic proficiency or willingness to learn POS systems

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in service industry
  • Proven experience as cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods including grilling, baking, and boiling
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Have or obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a calm demeanor
  • Proficiency in POS system and/or willingness to learn
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as needed

Job Duties

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking including chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting meat
  • Cook food in various ovens
  • Check food while cooking to turn or stir
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning, set-up, and breakdown tasks as assigned
  • Be fully knowledgeable of and adhere to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
  • Use POS system as instructed
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with operational standards, company policies, federal, state, and local laws and ordinances
  • Communicate and embody WISEACRE brand
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
