This part-time Kitchen Cook role at Dust Bowl Brewing Company involves the preparation and cooking of a variety of food items including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that each dish meets the company's high standards for quality and presentation. Responsibilities include accurately portioning food prior to cooking, preparing garnishes, and maintaining a clean and sanitary workstation. This position requires the use of various kitchen equipment including broilers, grills, ovens, fryers, and more. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • at least 6 months of experience in a similar capacity
  • ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and confidently with team members
  • availability to work days, nights, and weekends with full flexibility
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • ability to continuously work in a standing position
  • completion of Dust Bowl’s paid Food Safety Certificate training
  • completion of Dust Bowl’s paid Harassment Prevention and Workplace Violence Prevention safety training

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and confidently with managers, kitchen, taproom personnel, and staff
  • ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • at least 6 months of experience in a similar capacity
  • culinary certificate preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
  • assume full responsibility for the quality of products served
  • consistently comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
  • stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure smooth service periods
  • portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • maintain a clean and sanitary workstation including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment
  • prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sauté, or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning, and/or marinating
  • follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes
  • handle, store, and rotate all products safely and properly
  • assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods and maintain productivity
  • properly close the kitchen and complete closing checklists for kitchen stations
  • attend scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement
  • perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Managers on duty
