Job Description

Sandpiper Hospitality, operating under the Courtyard Reno brand, is a well-established hotel known for providing exceptional guest experiences in a dynamic hospitality environment. As a reputable hotel, it prides itself on delivering high-quality services and maintaining rigorous standards in all aspects of its operations. The hotel boasts a team-oriented atmosphere where professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to regulations are paramount for sustaining its commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

This job opening is for a Banquet Food Production Manager position within the Courtyard Reno hotel. This role primarily involves managing all facets of food production for banquets, ensuring that every dish is prepared following predetermined quality standards and within designated timelines. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, vital for guaranteeing safe and enjoyable dining experiences during banquet functions. The role requires overseeing the setup of food stations, managing mise en place, and ensuring compliance with sanitation policies.

Employing staff with Food Handling and Serve Safe Certifications, as well as a Nevada Alcohol Card, the hotel ensures that the management understands both hospitality and legal requirements in serving food and beverages to guests. The Banquet Food Production Manager must also demonstrate a strong commitment to regular attendance and adherence to company policies, reflecting the importance of reliability in the hospitality industry. Given the cyclical nature of this sector, the role demands flexibility in working schedules, adapting to business needs, and participating in all scheduled training sessions and meetings.

Physical demands include working in temperature-controlled and sometimes extreme environments such as freezers and kitchens. The candidate should be physically capable of standing and directing kitchen operations for extended periods, demonstrating endurance and mobility. Teamwork is emphasized, requiring proactive collaboration with other staff members to ensure banquet service success.

Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Marketing, or related fields. Experience-wise, the position calls for at least two years in human resources or leadership roles within hospitality, retail, or food service sectors. Candidates must possess general office and human resources knowledge alongside a basic understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws affecting the workplace.

Essential skills include proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, intermediate computer skills for internet data access, and strong communication abilities with both staff and guests. Conflict management, negotiation, and sales skills are also critical to this role, enabling effective leadership and operational success within the banquet food production context.

Sandpiper Hospitality at Courtyard Reno offers a dynamic and supportive work environment for those passionate about hospitality management and food service excellence.
