We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our kitchen team. This role involves accurately and efficiently cooking a wide variety of food products including meats, fish, vegetables, and soups. The Cook will be responsible not only for the preparation and portioning of food prior to cooking but also for the plating and garnishing of cooked items, ensuring each dish meets our established quality and presentation standards. This is an hourly position offering $21 per hour, with responsibilities that extend to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards across all kitchen stations and equipment.
The Cook will play an integral role in our daily kitchen operations by managing food stock levels at line stations to guarantee a seamless service period. This role requires strict adherence to our standardized portion sizes, cooking methods, kitchen policies, and safety protocols. The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team is critical, as the role involves close coordination with kitchen and dining room personnel. Additionally, the Cook will participate in closing procedures and contribute to continuous improvement discussions during scheduled employee meetings.
To excel in this position, candidates should have a minimum of two years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience, along with at least six months in a similar cooking capacity. Physical endurance is important as the job includes standing for long periods (up to nine hours), lifting up to 40 pounds, and performing tasks requiring reaching, bending, and stooping. Job Duties
- Accurately cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products
- Prepare and portion food products prior to cooking
- Plate and garnish cooked items according to standards
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work stations and kitchen equipment
- Stock and ensure sufficient levels of food products at line stations
- Follow standardized portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen policies consistently
- Assist in food preparation during off-peak periods
- Properly close the kitchen and complete closing checklists
- Attend scheduled employee meetings and contribute improvement suggestions
- Perform other related duties as assigned by kitchen manager or MOD
