The Kitchen Associate role at Harmons is a vital part of the grocery store’s food service department. This is an hourly position paying between $16.80 and $20.00 per hour. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain high standards of quality and product levels within the kitchen while assisting chefs in food preparation. Responsibilities include cooking, frying, and preparing various food items using approved recipes while ensuring that all food is safely held at the proper temperature. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area to meet company standards is also a key aspect of this role. Additionally, the Kitchen Associate is responsible for receiving and stocking kitchen products, confirming pricing and signage accuracy, and delivering exceptional service to customers who visit the kitchen area.

The role is dynamic and requires working with a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils to measure, mix, cook, and prepare items such as pizza, soups, salads, dips, sandwiches, and wok bar sauces as directed by the kitchen team. The associate will also document food safety temperatures using company systems and help with dishroom cleanliness and other kitchen duties as needed. This role involves regular interaction with customers and fellow store associates, emphasizing excellent communication and teamwork skills. It requires an individual who is organized, proactive, and capable of working in a busy, fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to the company’s mission and values.
Harmons seeks candidates who possess a Food Handler’s Permit and have the ability to learn proper knife skills and follow recipes. Basic math skills to adjust recipe quantities and the ability to interpret policies and procedures are important for success in the role. Candidates must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
