Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent vocational training
- food handling certification required
- 2-3 years hospitality culinary experience
- knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
- ability to communicate effectively in English
- ability to follow safety and hygiene protocols
- physical ability to perform kitchen tasks
- willingness to comply with workplace health and safety requirements
- ability to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent vocational training
- culinary degree a plus
- certificates from previous employers or college
- previous experience in similar position
- food hygiene awareness and basic training
- food handling certification
- ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- effective communication with supervisors, co-workers, and guests in English
- ability to communicate in a second language is a plus
- attention to detail and ability to produce food efficiently
- basic mathematical calculation skills
- ability to provide legible communication
- 2-3 years hospitality culinary experience
Job Duties
- Prepares meals in accordance with portion and quality standards specified in recipes or designated by servers within policy
- controls food usage to minimize waste
- demonstrates advanced knife skills and prepares various fruits, vegetables, and meats
- advises supervisor of low inventory items and assists in receiving and inventory counting
- assists in training 2nd and 3rd cook positions
- maintains supplies of equipment for service at station areas
- assists Executive Chef in service
- aids in cooking preparation
- ensures kitchen cleanliness and organization per hotel standards
- attends pre-meal briefing sessions
- complies with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- completes basic food handling course annually as per federal, state, and city standards
- applies knowledge of vegetables from raw state to preparation and appropriate doneness
- practices safe and proper food care, preparation, storage, and rotation
- maintains clean and organized work area including reach-ins, walk-ins, and counters
- assists in other kitchen areas as needed
- complies with workplace health and safety requirements
- performs other duties and special projects as assigned
