Job Requirements

  • Must be available to work as late as midnight mostly evening shifts
  • Willing to assist in putting away deliveries, organizing, and cleaning the kitchen
  • Must be willing to assist in any other cleaning tasks including cleaning different kitchen equipment as directed by the chefs
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and kneel for extended periods up to 8 hours
  • Ability to follow chef’s instructions and work cooperatively with kitchen staff

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years full-time experience at a high-volume restaurant or catering company as a chef-de-partie, demi-chef, or commis chef
  • Experience working in the grill and sauté section is essential
  • Experience working in the larder section an advantage
  • Must be comfortable with menus that change daily and cooking different cuisines
  • Must have own knives and aprons
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional work environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for service such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Ensure variety and quality of the servings
  • Answer, report, and follow chef’s instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Help oversee prep cook’s duties and tasks
