Job Description
Deer Valley Resort is a premier mountain ski resort located in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains of Utah, specifically in the historic mining town of Park City. Known for its classic, consistent quality and exceptional guest service, Deer Valley Resort has earned a distinguished reputation as a top ski destination. The resort is characterized by a dynamic and diverse workforce comprising locals, transplants, seasonal workers from every one of the 50 states, and international students from around the world. This community embodies inclusivity and a welcoming atmosphere where every individual feels appreciated and valued, regardless of age. The resort’s commitment to its employees is evident with many staff members returning season after season, with over 1,100 team members having celebrated their fifth season or beyond.
Deer Valley offers numerous employee perks including ski perks that vary by employment status such as access to season passes, free skiing or riding at other Alterra Resorts, and select local Utah resorts. Additionally, employees benefit from friends and family ski discounts, free ski lessons for staff during winter, discounted rentals, and subsidized meals at employee dining rooms during shifts. For seasonal full-time employees, subsidized housing options are available, and all staff receive discounts at local restaurants, shops, and service providers within Park City. Comprehensive healthcare options and a 401k plan with company match further support employee wellbeing. These benefits emphasize the resort's commitment to supporting its workforce both professionally and personally.
The position open is for a Lift Maintenance Technician, a critical role responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Deer Valley’s ski lifts. This year-round, full-time role plays an essential part in ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of the resort’s lifts in both winter and summer seasons. The Lift Maintenance Technician carries out daily start-up procedures and periodic inspections, performs essential in-service and after-hours maintenance and repairs, and participates actively in safety and equipment training programs. This role demands a meticulous individual dedicated to maintaining clean workspaces and equipment, completing accurate records and logs, and participating in daily briefings to stay in sync with the team and operational updates.
The technician will have hands-on responsibilities that include routine mechanical inspections, troubleshooting mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic systems, and electrical AC/DC motor systems. The opportunity also involves potential collaboration with other Mountain Operations and Resort departments as assigned. Understanding and implementing safety protocols and regulatory guidelines, such as ANSI B77.1, are fundamental to this position.
This role offers a competitive pay range of $24 to $29 per hour, dependent on experience, making it a rewarding opportunity financially in addition to being a vital contributor to the resort’s operational excellence. Deer Valley Resort is committed to equal employment opportunities and fosters an environment where every employee is empowered to contribute in a positive way while advancing their skills in a unique mountain resort setting. This position is ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a love of winter and mountain environments, who desire a career in a challenging and rewarding resort operation environment.
