Job Description

Marriott Long Beach Downtown, located at 111 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, California, is part of the globally recognized Marriott International hospitality brand. Marriott International is renowned for its commitment to providing excellent service, creating memorable experiences, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests and employees alike. This hotel offers upscale accommodations and amenities, catering to business travelers, tourists, and event attendees who seek comfort, sophistication, and attentive service.

The Bartender position at Marriott Long Beach Downtown is a seasonal, full-time role with a flexible shift preference, offering an hourly wage of $25.00 along with the potential to earn tips. This non-management role is central to the hotel’s food and beverage operations and is crucial in delivering a unique guest experience that goes beyond merely preparing and serving drinks. Instead, the bartender acts as an ambassador of hospitality, consistently looking to incorporate new trends, local specialties, and personalized guest preferences into their service approach.

Bartenders here are more than just beverage enthusiasts; they are proactive hosts responsible for the atmosphere and service quality within the bar area and beyond. They make sure the bar operates flawlessly, utilizing their expertise to manage inventory, maintain cleanliness, and execute drink preparation with precision and creativity. This role requires a strong service attitude, attention to detail, and the physical stamina to remain on their feet for extended periods while performing demanding tasks such as lifting items up to 25 pounds and bending or twisting.

The successful candidate will embrace Marriott’s core values of safety, professionalism, and respect for company policies and assets. Attention to maintaining confidentiality and presenting a professional appearance and uniform is mandatory. Working at Marriott means being part of a larger community that values diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity. The bartender’s responsibilities also include collaboration with other departments within the hotel and building relationships within the local community to anticipate and meet guests’ evolving needs.

Marriott International actively fosters a work environment where employees from all backgrounds feel valued. The company is committed to non-discrimination and makes hiring decisions in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including considerations for qualified applicants with criminal histories. This inclusive culture is one of the many reasons Marriott is a leading employer in the hospitality industry.

Working at JW Marriott, part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio to which this hotel belongs, offers employees a unique career path marked by confidence, innovation, and genuine service. JW Marriott hotels provide associates with opportunities for training, development, recognition, and wellness in a luxury setting. The brand promises a work culture that supports employees as they pursue their passions and deliver exceptional guest service, referred to as The JW Treatment™.

Overall, this bartender position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, keen to work in a fast-paced environment, and eager to contribute to creating a memorable experience for every guest. The role demands a balance of knowledge, skill, enthusiasm, and personal initiative to uphold Marriott’s high standards and continue building the hotel’s reputation for outstanding service.
