Job Description
Haven for Hope is a dedicated community center and non-profit organization committed to addressing homelessness through a comprehensive approach that includes housing, health services, education, and employment support. Located centrally, Haven for Hope serves as a sanctuary for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, providing a safe environment and resources aimed at long-term empowerment, stability, and self-sufficiency. The organization partners with numerous service providers and community stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to meeting clients’ needs.
The Life Safety Officer role at Haven for Hope offers a vital position within this supportive environment. This role involves providing security coverage over the property, which includes conducting foot and vehicle patrols, securing premises, and monitoring for unauthorized users or hazards. Working under limited supervision, the Life Safety Officer ensures safety by responding promptly to incidents, documenting occurrences like injuries or property damage, and handling conflicts on campus. Beyond physical security tasks, the Life Safety Officer engages meaningfully with clients accessing services, acting as an initial point of contact who helps guide them through available programs. Interaction with clients is frequent and often includes monitoring their progress, providing critical information on partner services, and supporting their overall safety and well-being.
An important part of this role is identifying and responding to crises such as domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking among clients, ensuring these individuals receive immediate protection and are connected with appropriate services. The Life Safety Officer thus contributes not only to the security of Haven for Hope’s physical property but also to the emotional and physical safety of its clients. This is a position that requires dedication, strong observational skills, the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, and a commitment to supporting the vulnerable populations served by Haven for Hope.
Employment Type: Full-time. The position demands flexibility for various shifts including day, night, weekends, and holidays. This role requires active certification with the State of Texas and a background in security services. The compensation aligns with industry standards for security professionals operating in social service settings. Being part of the Haven for Hope team means contributing to a mission-driven environment dedicated to transformation and hope, where safety is a cornerstone of effective service delivery and community trust.
