Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate equivalent of recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current RN, NP, or PA license or certification in assigned state
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements
- Completion of FDA approved BioLife training
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program meeting state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified as Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state basic IV therapy requirements
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital setting experience
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including informed consent management, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis results
- Evaluate and manage donor reactions occurring at the facility according to standard operating procedures
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety
- Support employee vaccination programs such as Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency services
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support pandemic threat investigations
