As a forward-thinking company in the logistics and compliance sector, we understand the complexities and dynamic nature of customs operations. Our expansion into Charlotte represents a significant growth milestone, where we will set up an office from the ground up, including securing all necessary company licenses and building operational processes that ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This office will become a flagship location for delivering high-quality customs brokerage services, supported by advanced technology and a dedicated team.
We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Licensed Customs Broker to spearhead this exciting initiative as the office leader. This role is uniquely suited for a dynamic professional who embodies a startup mentality, thrives in fast-paced environments, and possesses a strong expertise in customs brokerage and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for establishing the Charlotte office, obtaining required licenses, and ensuring all customs clearance processes meet legal and operational standards.
In this strategic leadership position, you will manage critical customs operations, including preparing and filing entries, handling customs documentation with precision and timeliness, and maintaining active communication with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as other relevant government agencies. You will also provide expert advice to clients on customs compliance matters and tariff classifications, staying abreast of the latest changes in customs regulations to ensure continuous adherence and operational excellence.
The role requires strong coordination with freight forwarders, carriers, and warehouse teams to guarantee smooth logistics and customs processing workflows. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records in accordance with customs requirements and company policies while ensuring internal customs software systems are fully integrated and up to date.
As the leader of the new office, you will recruit, train, and develop a competent team of customs professionals, fostering a culture that emphasizes compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This position offers a rare opportunity to contribute significantly to the foundational growth and success of our Charlotte facility, influencing operational strategies and team development in a startup setting.
Candidates for this role will possess an active U.S. Customs Broker License and have at least three years of relevant experience in customs brokerage or import/export compliance. A deep understanding of HTS classification, valuation, and participation government agency (PGA) regulations such as FDA, USDA, and EPA is essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, coupled with experience in ACE and customs software, will be highly valued. We seek a highly organized individual with impeccable attention to detail and a proven ability to operate independently within a startup environment.
The compensation package includes competitive benefits such as standard medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off, recognized company holidays, and career development opportunities. This role offers a challenging yet rewarding leadership experience within a growing company that values innovation and professional growth.Show Less
