Job Description
The Legacy Center is a premier recreation and community facility dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and active lifestyles among its members and the wider community. Known for its comprehensive range of programs and state-of-the-art amenities, the Legacy Center offers everything from fitness and weight training sessions to community events and educational workshops. As a key hub for recreation, the center prioritizes excellent customer service, safety, and a supportive environment for all visitors and staff members.
The organization is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Front Desk Head Manager to join its recreation department. This part-time role offers between 20 and 25 hours per week with a competitive pay range from $15.83 to $19 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. The position operates under the general supervision of the Registration & Front Desk Manager and involves overseeing all front desk activities to ensure smooth daily operations.
As the Front Desk Head Manager at the Legacy Center, you will play a critical role in managing the front desk staff, which includes supervising desk managers and support personnel. A primary responsibility is to lead the training program by managing and verifying that all front desk staff members complete necessary training sessions such as new hire orientation, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), CPR/First Aid certification, as well as cardio and weight room orientations. This ensures the team remains knowledgeable, confident, and prepared to meet member needs.
The role also involves administrative duties such as updating the center's policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook annually or as required to align with the organization's standards and any regulatory changes. Additionally, you will oversee inventory management by organizing supplies, ordering office essentials, pool wristbands, and staff shirts, ensuring that the front desk operates efficiently and is well-equipped.
Collaboration and communication are vital, as you will be expected to assist in planning and running special tasks, trainings, and team-building activities alongside the fellow Front Desk Head Manager. Participation in bi-monthly meetings is essential, and you will be responsible for taking meeting notes and distributing this information among front desk staff and department heads to foster transparency and team cohesion.
Moreover, exceptional customer service skills are a must, as part of your duties will include handling patron concerns and complaints professionally, providing assistance related to health, fitness, and recreational needs, thereby enhancing the overall member experience at the Legacy Center. Flexible scheduling is required, including working varied shifts such as morning, day, and evening hours to adequately support the front desk operations across different times of the week.
This position is ideal for someone with good public relations skills, a friendly and courteous attitude, and the willingness to learn, supervise, and follow directions in a fast-paced environment. It requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience and certification in CPR/First Aid. Knowledge of cardio and weight room equipment and Legacy Center programs and events is highly beneficial.
By joining the Legacy Center as a Front Desk Head Manager, you will become part of a dynamic team committed to delivering excellent service and fostering a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment for all members. This role offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute to a thriving community center, and have a meaningful impact on people’s recreational and wellness experiences.
