Job Description

Chimes is a purpose-driven organization committed to fostering a supportive work environment and providing comprehensive services to diverse communities. Known for its dedication to employee growth, community involvement, and delivering outstanding service, Chimes has built a reputation as a trusted employer in its sector. The organization handles operations requiring a high level of precision and adherence to safety and quality standards, making it an ideal place for individuals seeking to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully in a dynamic workplace.

This position is geared toward those who can lead and inspire a team while undertaking hands-on custodial tasks essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in a military installation setting. The role is responsible not only for manual cleaning duties but also for managing schedules, overseeing work quality, and ensuring compliance with strict safety and security policies. The work schedule runs Monday through Friday from 5:30 pm to 1:30 am, offering a set pay rate of $18.47 per hour. The job requires a North Carolina REAL ID for access to the installation since passes will not be issued without it.

In this role, you will perform various cleaning activities, including disinfecting and maintaining restrooms, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting surfaces, cleaning fitness and childcare centers, and taking care of building exteriors. Beyond these tasks, you will lead a crew by transporting members safely across the site while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) and military installation driving laws. You must also ensure employees follow OSHA guidelines and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety throughout their work.

Leadership is a critical aspect of the role, as you will act as a mentor and coach for new custodians, ensuring they learn proper cleaning techniques and meet contract specifications. As an essential personnel designation, this job may require you to stay on-site or report to work during emergencies to maintain operations.

The job demands physical endurance, including the ability to stand or walk long hours, navigate stairs, lift and carry heavy objects, and withstand adverse weather conditions. Success in this role also depends on your ability to lead effectively, maintain focus amid interruptions, comply with safety procedures, and communicate issues promptly to supervisors. Previous custodial experience, van driving skills, and training in CPR and OSHA standards are preferred.

Working with Chimes offers various benefits, especially for full-time employees working more than 30 hours per week. These include competitive pay, medical and dental insurance, tuition reimbursement options, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, paid time off, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, employee recognition and referral bonuses, and several discounts on services and activities.

If you are looking for a role where you can apply your custodial skills while developing your leadership capacity in a mission-driven organization, this opportunity at Chimes presents a fulfilling career path.
