Job Description
Advocate Health is the third-largest nonprofit, integrated health system in the United States, formed through the merger of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. Operating under the names Advocate Health Care in Illinois; Atrium Health across the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama; and Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin, this expansive organization serves nearly 6 million patients nationally. Its headquarters are based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and it stands as a national leader in clinical innovation, health outcomes, consumer experience, and value-based care. Advocate Health's commitment to advanced patient care is evident in its engagement with hundreds of clinical trials and research studies, supported academically by Wake Forest University School of Medicine. The system excels in specialties such as cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, rehabilitation, organ transplants, burn treatments, and musculoskeletal programs. It employs approximately 155,000 teammates across 69 hospitals and more than 1,000 care locations, and hosts one of the largest graduate medical education programs in the nation with over 2,000 residents and fellows.
This position is a full-time frontline leadership role within the Public Safety department at Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh. The role is a 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE), requiring 40 hours per week, scheduled from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM every Tuesday through Saturday. Weekend and holiday work may be required as scheduled. The pay range for this position is $24.10 to $36.15 per hour, reflecting factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
As a frontline supervisor, the individual will provide comprehensive security services with a customer-focused approach emphasizing professionalism, fairness, and compassion, even during challenging situations. This role demands strong leadership abilities, coordinating the Public Safety Officers on shifts, prioritizing duties, reviewing and approving incident reports, and leading briefings to ensure consistent communication across shifts. The supervisor will address and investigate workplace violence incidents and respond swiftly to emergency calls involving combative or threatening individuals.
This role includes being a primary resource for tactical de-escalation, applying use-of-force techniques such as conducted electrical weapons (CEW) and handcuffing when necessary, while maintaining a secure environment through policy enforcement and staff scheduling management. Decision-making regarding apprehension or arrest cases is a critical component, alongside fostering strong partnerships by liaising with law enforcement agencies and other departments.
Leadership duties extend to emergency response planning and execution, performance coaching for officers, internal training facilitation, and ensuring compliance with required certifications and training standards. The role entails collaboration with external law enforcement, managing incident investigations on site, and promoting community-oriented patrolling strategies to enhance overall safety and security within the healthcare environment.
Candidates are expected to bring strong emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Knowledge of security, customer service, and emergent situation management is essential, alongside meeting multiple regulatory and certification requirements. The position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to move throughout the facility, manage physical confrontations safely, and assist in clinical patient care scenarios when necessary.
Advocate Health fosters a supportive workplace culture that values teammate respect, kindness, and patient-centered safety. The organization offers comprehensive total rewards such as competitive salary, premium pay, health and welfare benefits, paid time off, retirement plans with employer matches, educational assistance, and programs that support career development and well-being. This role provides an excellent opportunity to be part of a leading health system dedicated to equity, innovation, and exceptional patient care.
