Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years Patient Access experience
  • meet or exceed registration accuracy and productivity standards
  • exceed departmental KPIs
  • positive attitude and self-motivation
  • cross-trained in multiple areas
  • ability to work in high volume fast-paced environment
  • detail oriented and organized
  • excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines
  • understanding of insurance contracts and scheduling protocols
  • experience with Microsoft Office and EMR software
  • knowledge of medical terminology
  • bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent training or experience
  • minimum of 2 years Patient Access experience for internal staff
  • associate degree preferred for external applicants
  • meet or exceed registration accuracy and productivity standards
  • exceed departmental KPIs
  • maintain positive attitude and self-motivation
  • cross-trained in multiple areas to substitute all staff positions
  • complete and pass the Patient Access training course
  • ability to work in high volume, fast-paced environment
  • detail-oriented and organized
  • excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage
  • understanding of insurance contracts and scheduling guidelines
  • experience with Microsoft Office and EMR applications
  • knowledge of medical terminology
  • bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole

Job Duties

  • Serve as a preceptor for new hires
  • schedule patient appointments including diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office visits, and other procedures or treatments
  • obtain and verify necessary demographic and insurance information
  • register patients and enter data into scheduling system
  • meet individual quality metrics in a call center environment
  • act as a Patient Access resource and take on leadership role in absence of manager or supervisor
  • support go lives and departmental initiatives
  • participate in departmental committees and champion opportunities
