Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior supervisory experience in bakery or related retail environment
  • ability to lift, twist, move and carry up to 50 pounds
  • ability to maintain active signage and pricing
  • capability to handle cash, debit, credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers accurately
  • strong customer service skills and ability to respond promptly and politely
  • ability to use store phones and intercom systems
  • willingness to work in environments with heat, cold, humidity, dust
  • knowledge of health and safety standards and cleaning procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Basic mathematics skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior supervisory experience
  • experience with bakery equipment including ovens, mixers, fryers, bread slicers, scales, wrappers, and cleaning materials

Job Duties

  • Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
  • initiate and make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, discipline, promotion and evaluation of bakery personnel
  • orient and train bakery employees and retrain when necessary
  • develop weekly labor schedules for bakery staff
  • supervise and actively wrap, package, and sell a variety of bakery goods
  • supervise and bake bread, rolls, buns, cakes, pies, pastries, and brownies
  • maintain company standards for perishables and comply with safety procedures
  • transport and stock goods within the department
  • ensure compliance with health and safety codes, check pricing and expiration dates, maintain organization
  • check, record, and retain cooler and freezer temperatures and perform maintenance
  • stay updated on health and safety standards and understand cleaning supplies and equipment
  • accurately record customer orders for cakes and bakery items
  • order bakery products and supplies from vendors
  • comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions on store policies and equipment usage
  • supervise and organize cooler/freezer/preparation areas, verify deliveries, inspect for quality, and code-date items
