Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift, twist, move, and carry up to 50 lbs
  • maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas
  • care for signs, banners, and debris
  • accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers
  • respond promptly and politely to customers, coworkers, and vendors
  • proper usage of store phone and intercom systems
  • supervise and perform checking of case and cooler temperatures four times daily using the time-keeping system

Job Qualifications

  • Basic mathematics skills including add, subtract, multiply, divide
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior supervisory experience
  • prior experience with ovens, convection ovens, mixers, fryers, bread slicers, stoves, wrappers, scales, and cleaning materials

Job Duties

  • Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
  • initiate and make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, and evaluation of bakery department personnel
  • orient and train new bakery department employees and retrain employees when necessary
  • develop weekly labor schedules for bakery staff
  • supervise and actively participate in baking bread, rolls, buns, cakes, pies, pastries, and brownies
  • maintain company standards for perishables and safety procedures
  • transport and stock goods within the department
  • ensure compliance with health and safety codes, pricing, expiration dates, and maintain organizational standards
  • check, record, and retain cooler/freezer temperatures and maintenance
  • stay updated on health and safety standards and cleaning supplies usage
  • accurately record customers' orders for cakes and other bakery items
  • order bakery products and supplies from authorized vendors to minimize out-of-stocks
  • comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions about store policies and equipment
  • supervise and perform preparation area organization, verify merchandise against invoices, inspect deliveries, and code-date all items in cooler/freezer
