Campus Dining Services at the University of Missouri is a dedicated department committed to providing high-quality, nutritious, and diverse dining options that cater to the University community including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position, titled Food Service Worker II, is an hourly role with a salary range from $16.30 to $17.50. It is a full-time position working Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, and it involves essential food preparation, service, and sanitation tasks in various dining locations operated by the University’s Dining Services. The role's primary responsibilities include basic food preparation such as building sandwiches and pizzas, plating food items for service, and performing sanitation duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Employees will be expected to demonstrate proper food preparation techniques including roasting, sautéing, frying, baking, steaming, and mixing, as well as knife skills and operation of kitchen equipment.
The role requires adherence to proper food handling standards and preparation of food according to defined instructions. Workers will assist in maintaining documentation like Serving Line Worksheets and help set up service and preparation areas as assigned. Providing high-quality customer service is a crucial aspect of this role to meet departmental objectives. The worker will also have responsibilities in directing, helping train, and assisting student employees involved in food preparation and service. Cleaning and replenishing service areas, dining rooms, and dishwashing areas during and after service is also part of the job duties. The position is designed to support the department's continuous improvement and alignment with its vision, making it an important role within the Campus Dining Services. Employees must complete required training to ensure compliance with institutional standards and safety protocols. Job Requirements
- Pass physical examination for essential job functions
- ability to read, write, and perform basic math
- six months experience in preparation and service of food in institutional or commercial food service
- knowledge of basic food preparation including knife skills, service and sanitation methods
- ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (e.g., 40 pounds)
- good physical health
- customer service and supervisory experience preferred
