Job Description
Misfits Market is a mission-driven, high-growth startup dedicated to reducing food waste and making shopping for sustainable, high-quality groceries easier and more affordable. Founded with a commitment to sustainability, this innovative company has positioned itself as a leader in the food e-commerce sector by delivering organic produce, high-quality meats and seafood, plant-based proteins, dairy, bakery items, wine, and other grocery essentials to nearly every zip code in 48 states. By offering these products at up to 30 percent off traditional grocery store prices, Misfits Market not only provides value to consumers but also promotes the responsible consumption and reduction of food waste.
In 2022, the company expanded its impact by acquiring Imperfect Foods, a sustainable e-grocer. This acquisition has allowed Misfits Market to optimize its operations by leveraging an in-house transportation network that delivers directly to consumers using one of the most carbon-efficient grocery delivery models available. The company's innovative approach tackles inefficiencies within the food supply chain, enabling them to save an average of 500,000 pounds of food weekly from waste or undesirable outcomes. To date, Misfits Market has helped save over 190 million pounds of food, highlighting its significant role in promoting environmental sustainability.
The company culture is deeply rooted in core values that prioritize customer satisfaction and operational excellence. These include prioritizing customers, thinking differently, moving deliberately and quickly, doing more with less, respecting one another, and taking initiative to deliver. These principles guide every aspect of their business, ensuring that the team remains focused, motivated, and aligned with the company’s mission.
The role of the delivery driver at Misfits Market is vital to the company’s success. Delivery drivers serve as the direct link between fulfillment centers and valued customers, ensuring that orders arrive at the correct address, within the specified time window, and in excellent condition. This customer-facing position demands a positive attitude, a safety-first mindset, and a strong commitment to customer service. Drivers embody the company's dedication to quality and care, helping to build trust and loyalty with every delivery.
Delivery drivers at Misfits Market operate safely and efficiently by adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety standards. This includes wearing seatbelts, using proper lifting techniques, following hands-free cellular device policies, and safely navigating traffic and weather conditions. In addition to delivering groceries, drivers lead pre-shift meetings, support load-out processes, help onboard and train new drivers, conduct quarterly driver observations, and assist with the Packaging Return Program by managing customer recycling pickups.
Offering a competitive hourly rate and comprehensive benefits, Misfits Market supports its drivers both on and off the road. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, an annual grocery box credit totaling $1,200 paid in weekly installments, life insurance, paid vacation and sick days, paid holidays, and commuter benefits. The regular schedule runs Tuesday through Friday beginning at 7:30 a.m., providing work-life balance for those who wish to grow within a forward-thinking, socially responsible company.
