The Culinary Leader role is an entry-level structured training program designed to be completed within six months, supported by a mentor and trainer. Successful completion of this program will result in placement as a Lead Cook within the Restaurant Foods Kitchen area. As a Culinary Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining the highest culinary standards. You will assist the Sous Chef in managing kitchen operations and employees, assuming full responsibility in their absence. Your duties will encompass following recipes with precision, employing proper cooking techniques, and ensuring the consistent preparation of meals that meet Wegmans' distinguished quality standards.
In addition to managing kitchen performance and operations, the Culinary Leader will also serve as a resource for educating both customers and employees on product knowledge and meal preparation strategies. This role emphasizes teamwork and leadership, requiring you to foster a positive work environment that encourages growth, training, and development among kitchen staff. You will play an important role in enhancing the culinary experience for customers by suggesting creative meal solutions that integrate various departmental products.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Available to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts including weekends
- Willingness to participate in a structured 6-month training program
- Capable of working full time
- Ability to work in Burlington, MA location

- Reliable and punctual work ethic
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years experience as a prep or line cook
- Knowledge of food safety and quality assurance
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts preferred
- Experience in multifaceted food service facilities like restaurants, hotels, country clubs, or similar venues preferred
- Ability to work various shifts including weekends
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Job Duties
- Assist the Sous Chef in running the kitchen and managing employees in the Sous Chef's absence
- Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to ensure product consistency and high standards
- Educate customers and employees on products and meal preparation solutions
- Manage employee performance by providing resources, training, feedback, and development opportunities
