We are currently seeking a part-time Lead Cook for the PM shift (11am - 7:30pm) at Fremont Hospital. This pivotal role involves preparing nutritious and appealing patient meals while supporting the Director by managing and coordinating various aspects of the Food Service Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a sanitary food preparation environment, monitoring supplies, ensuring proper storage, and overseeing staff to guarantee efficient and high-standard service delivery.

The Lead Cook role demands a blend of essential skills such as calmness under pressure, keen attention to detail, excellent organizational and cleanliness habits, quick and effective decision-making, positive attitude, openness to feedback, effective collaboration, and advanced planning skills. This position emphasizes both culinary expertise and leadership capability, ensuring that meal services align with nutritional standards and patient needs.

Job Requirements

  • Required to work evenings and weekends with flexible hours
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Prior cooking and supervisory experience
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Completion of CPI training within 90 days if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • AA degree or certificate training in related field of study or comparable years of experience
  • Cooking experience with supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal food service regulations
  • ServSafe certification
  • Culinary certificate preferred
  • Ability to complete non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training if required

Job Duties

  • Prepare nutritious and attractive patient meals
