Job Description

We are currently seeking a Lead Cook to join our dedicated team. This role is essential in overseeing kitchen operations during shifts, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring that all food preparation activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety. The Lead Cook will play a leadership role, helping to assign duties, train new and existing kitchen team members, and enforce all health and safety guidelines. This position requires someone with previous management experience who has a positive, team-oriented attitude and is eager to contribute to the continued success of Tatsu-Ya. This is a fantastic chance to build upon your culinary skills, deepen your understanding of Japanese cuisine, and grow within a supportive and exciting workplace. As the Lead Cook, your responsibilities will include managing employee performance, addressing any issues, and maintaining clear communication with the Sous Chef. Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in a management role preferred
  • must successfully complete state required certification and obtain food handlers credentials
  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • ability to handle customer issues and employee disputes
  • physical ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • previous experience in a management role preferred
  • must successfully complete state required certification and obtain food handlers credentials
  • Toast POS knowledge is preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Supervising employees, assigning duties, and training line cooks
  • monitoring team performance and ensuring duties are performed efficiently
  • reporting any issues that arise during the shift to the Sous Chef
  • managing employee requests
  • ensuring compliance with company policies, health, and safety standards
  • coaching team members and training new staff
  • handling customer issues and employee disputes
