Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, committed to improving the quality of life for the people it serves and contributing to social, economic, and environmental progress in the communities in which it operates. With its extensive reach and dedication to excellence, Sodexo partners with a variety of clients to provide outstanding food services, catering, facilities management, and other integrated solutions worldwide. The company fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment where each employee is valued, respected, and encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work. Sodexo's core values emphasize fairness, respect, and equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, pregnancy status, disability, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.

The Lead Cook position at Sodexo, based at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is a full-time role offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $20.00. The work schedule consists of varying shifts, including different days and hours, with open availability preferred. This role is designed for individuals passionate about food preparation who are eager to deliver excellent customer service in a team-oriented environment. As a Lead Cook, your responsibilities will include the efficient and accurate preparation of a wide variety of hot and cold food items across multiple meal periods such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. You will follow recipes and product directions carefully to ensure high-quality standards are met while managing portion control and food presentation.

In addition to meal preparation, you may be required to prepare and serve food at an a la carte station or operate a grill station. Leadership responsibilities are part of this position as well, with opportunities to assist management in overseeing key daily functions and supervising employees throughout the business day. Punctuality and reliability are crucial, as regularly attending scheduled shifts on time is expected. Your role as a Lead Cook will also extend to reducing food waste, ensuring safe and healthy work environments, and contributing positively to the customer experience with your passion and warm customer service.

Sodexo offers a flexible and supportive work environment, enabling employees to maintain a good work-life balance. Continuous training and development programs are available to help you advance your career within the company. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package supporting their and their family’s wellbeing. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k retirement savings plans, employee discount programs, and potentially additional location-specific perks such as free meals or meal allowances, uniforms, safety shoes, public transportation support, and parking. Sodexo is committed to providing a positive workplace where your ideas and opinions are heard and valued, contributing to a stronger team and a better working environment. This makes the Lead Cook role ideal for adaptable, reliable team members who thrive in a dynamic, food service setting where their efforts make a difference every day.
