Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one year food service or related work experience
  • Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures
  • Ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry food cases and equipment up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to stand continuously during preparation and service
  • Ability to bend knees and perform physical tasks regularly
  • Ability to move freely around the kitchen and storage areas
  • Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate with staff
  • Ability to see that products are prepared appropriately
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Availability to work in temperatures ranging from -10 degrees in freezers to over 100 degrees on the front line

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one year food service or related work experience
  • Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures

  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Job Duties

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards per server requests
  • Start food items ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs
  • Date and rotate all food containers according to standard operating procedures, keeping perishables at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use and determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return unused food items to designated storage areas, covering and dating all perishables
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct food cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage per SOP
