Job Requirements
- high school graduate or GED
- two to four years recent experience as a cook
- restaurant background preferred
- Serve Safe Certification
- knowledge of safe food handling and preparation
- ability to present foods attractively and ensure quality by taste and smell
- ability to pass Eskaton's post offer pre-employment testing including criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test, and health screen
- must sign arbitration agreement as condition of employment

- knowledge of good practices to avoid waste and misuse
- ability to present foods in an attractive and palatable manner and to test quality of food by taste and smell
- broad knowledge of breakfast, lunch, and dinner entree preparation
- broad knowledge of scratch soups, sauces, gravies, starches, and vegetables
Job Duties
- Apply sanitation and safety techniques while working and supervising
- take responsibility for all kitchen activities in the absence of the manager or director
- assist in the training of food service personnel as directed
- assist in scheduling, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen facilities and equipment according to schedules and procedures
- routinely check and maintain temperature logs for completion
- prepare and cook meals according to recipes, menus, food production methods, regulatory requirements, and therapeutic diet orders ensuring palatability and quality
- practice and apply portion control of all diets during preparation and service while supervising kitchen staff during meal service
- make appropriate notations of food substitutions on daily menus and communicate to manager or manager on duty
- assist in inventory, ordering, rotation, and maintaining of foods in all storage areas
- be familiar with food service disaster plan
