This role is ideal for culinary associates who are passionate about food preparation and quality service in a bustling hotel environment. The position offers a unique opportunity to grow your culinary skills by partnering with the Rouxbe culinary school, providing employees access to a comprehensive online training platform. This includes hundreds of well-designed, visually engaging lessons that can be applied immediately on the job. The role involves preparing special meals, ensuring food quality and safety, controlling portions, and maintaining proper food temperatures using ovens, grills, and broilers. You will be responsible for defrosting food properly, recording food inventories, and communicating effectively with kitchen management and food and beverage service staff.
Duties also include assisting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, motivation, discipline, and coaching, all while serving as a role model for team members. This position requires strict adherence to all safety and company policies, including reporting incidents and participating in safety training and certifications. Employees are expected to maintain a clean and professional appearance while upholding confidentiality and protecting company property.
The job also involves anticipating guest service needs and proactively addressing them, using clear and professional communication skills, and fostering positive workplace relationships to support team objectives. Physical aspects of the role include standing for extended periods, bending, stretching, and handling materials up to 25 pounds independently.
