Marriott Marquis Chicago is a premier hotel located in the heart of Chicago offering exceptional hospitality services. Part of Marriott International, a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, the Marriott Marquis Chicago stands out for its commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences through innovative service, luxurious accommodations, and a dedication to employee growth and wellbeing. Marriott International operates a vast portfolio of brands worldwide and is known for fostering inclusive work environments where diversity is celebrated and every associate has the opportunity to thrive and grow professionally.

This particular opportunity is for a non-management culinary associate position, offering full-time employment with competitive hourly pay ranging from $25.50 to $29.30. Located at 2121 S Prairie Ave in Chicago, Illinois, this role is key in supporting the hotel’s food and beverage operations, particularly in the kitchen. The position provides an exciting career development pathway through a partnership with the Rouxbe Cooking School, allowing culinary associates to access online training that is designed to enhance their skills, no matter their level of experience. This self-paced, visually rich culinary curriculum supports hands-on job performance and career growth, making it an excellent opportunity for motivated culinary professionals.

The culinary associate’s responsibilities include preparing meals and substitute items, managing cooking equipment temperatures, and ensuring food is thawed and handled according to strict quality and safety standards. They also handle food portioning, presentation, garnishing, and maintaining accurate food logs. Monitoring food quality and quantity is vital, along with effectively communicating with both the kitchen and food and beverage service teams about menu specials and inventory levels. Associates must maintain company safety and hygiene standards, handle maintenance reports, and contribute to a positive team environment by anticipating guest service needs and fostering professional communication.

In addition to day-to-day cooking duties like preparing cold foods and following detailed recipes, the culinary associate supports management by assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating fellow employees. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods, as well as performing physical activities like lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, and stooping. Associates play an essential role in upholding Marriott’s reputation for hospitality excellence, helping to ensure guest satisfaction through quality food preparation and collaborative teamwork.

Marriott International is dedicated to equal opportunity employment, celebrating diversity and inclusion at all levels. The company provides comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, retirement plans, paid time off, life insurance, disability coverage, and other wellness programs, all designed to support the holistic wellbeing of its associates. Marriott’s commitment to fostering positive career paths means culinary staff have opportunities for recognition and advancement within one of the world’s most respected hospitality companies.

Working at Marriott Marquis Chicago not only allows culinary associates to refine their craft in a luxury hospitality environment but also to be part of an amazing global team where personal and professional growth is encouraged. This position is ideal for culinary professionals seeking a stable, rewarding full-time role with competitive compensation, valuable training resources, and a supportive work culture that values innovation, quality, and teamwork.
