The Lead Cook position at Muhlenberg College is a full-time role with a pay rate of $19.5 per hour. This role involves working varying shifts, with open availability preferred to accommodate the different meal periods and special events that occur on campus. As a Lead Cook with Sodexo, you will play a vital role in preparing and presenting nutritious meals while maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service. This position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about food, committed to reducing food waste, and enjoy working as part of a team. You will be responsible for the efficient and accurate preparation of hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catered events, ensuring that all dishes are served promptly and presented attractively.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to four years of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to work varying shifts with open availability preferred
  • Commitment to teamwork and food waste reduction
  • Basic food handling and safety knowledge
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain quality standards

  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety guidelines

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to varying business necessities and client requirements
