The Lead Cook / Kitchen Supervisor must be a seasoned culinary professional, ideally with a minimum of two years supervising line cooks and managing day-to-day kitchen operations. This role demands a strong commitment to food safety, quality, and consistency, as well as the ability to lead and mentor kitchen staff effectively. The supervisor will oversee daily food preparation to ensure meals meet recipe and presentation standards while maintaining rigorous hygiene, sanitation, and temperature control compliance. Additionally, the Lead Cook supports catered events and special functions, serving as the kitchen lead when the Executive Chef or Kitchen Supervisor is unavailable. This role requires calmness under pressure, excellent communication, organizational skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and efficient work environment.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and temperature control
  • Ability to lead and motivate others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food Handler’s Card required
  • ServeSafe Certification preferred
  • Experience in senior living or healthcare food service a plus

Job Duties

  • Supervise daily kitchen operations and provide hands-on leadership to the cook team
  • Ensure food is prepared, cooked, and served safely and according to recipe and presentation standards
  • Assist with inventory management, prep tracking, and daily production schedules
  • Train, support, and mentor line and prep cooks to maintain consistency and quality
  • Uphold proper food hygiene, sanitation, and temperature control procedures
  • Support event catering and special functions with professionalism and efficiency
  • Act as the kitchen lead in the absence of the Executive Chef or Kitchen Supervisor
