We are currently seeking a Lead Concierge for the 20-30 Hallett's Point location in Astoria, Queens. This role is a full-time, weekday position with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm and weekends off, offering a competitive wage of $31.77 per hour. As the Lead Concierge, you will be responsible for providing exemplary customer service by greeting and assisting residents, guests, and prospects, ensuring the lobby, entryways, and front desk remain clean and organized at all times. This role is crucial for maintaining the quality and security of the building, handling package deliveries, service requests, and emergency situations with professionalism and attention to detail. You will lead the concierge team, overseeing training and scheduling, and act as a liaison between residents and property management.

In addition to managing the front desk operations, the Lead Concierge monitors visitor parking, handles resident complaints, and ensures compliance with building procedures. The position requires vigilance for security through monitoring access control and CCTV, responding promptly to elevator incidents, and managing emergency responses such as fire drills or active shooter events. The ideal candidate should have experience in customer service or residential concierge roles, a high level of responsibility and reliability, and the ability to work consistently scheduled shifts with occasional overtime if necessary. Certification within 90 days of hire, such as CPR/AED/First Aid and Certificate of Fitness, is required to maintain a safe environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to work scheduled hours consistently
  • Ability to work overtime when requested
  • Must complete CPR/AED/Basic First Aid course within 90 days
  • Must obtain F-53 Certificate of Fitness within 90 days
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Ability to operate and monitor building security systems
  • Must be able to handle emergencies calmly
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs
  • Willingness to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Must pass background and security checks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in customer service, residential concierge or related field preferred
  • Ability to effectively read and write English
  • Ability to work any day of the week including weekends as needed
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of building security systems and emergency protocols
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organization
  • CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • Certificate of Fitness (Emergency One-Way Voice Announcement Personnel) within 90 days
  • Familiarity with building management software such as BuildingLink
  • Skills in customer service and conflict resolution
  • Preferred FDNY certifications such as F-85, F-89, S-12, S-13, S-14
  • Experience with Fire Command Center operations and fire protection systems

Job Duties

  • Oversees training and onboarding of front desk concierge employees
  • Communicates with concierge team to fill time off coverage and relays coverage to direct manager
  • Issues and deactivates key cards for new and exiting residents
  • Escalates resident complaints and reviews daily work orders
  • Maintains customer service standards adherence
  • Screens guests to ensure authorized entry
  • Ensures lobby and front desk cleanliness and organization
  • Answers phone calls, provides information, and takes messages
  • Inspects building entrance and amenity areas for cleanliness and safety
  • Signs for deliveries and packages, tracks and distributes them
  • Logs resident service requests into the building system
  • Manages apartment keys securing and issuance
  • Distributes dry cleaning and other resident deliveries
  • Monitors Access Controls and CCTV for suspicious activity
  • Handles tenant inquiries and documents noise and smoking complaints
  • Ensures vendor and contractor protocols are followed
  • Tracks and reports elevator incidents
  • Monitors elevator operations and reports issues
  • Manages emergency response including Fire, Non-fire, and Active Shooter incidents
  • Calls 911 and assists first responders
  • Monitors fire protection systems
  • Activates Emergency Response Team
  • Performs other management-assigned tasks
