Job Description

Brookdale Senior Living is a leading provider of senior living communities across the United States, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors through exceptional care and innovative dining experiences. As a company deeply committed to creating vibrant and engaging environments for residents, Brookdale places a strong emphasis on culinary excellence and resident satisfaction. The company’s focus on health, wellness, and community engagement ensures that both residents and team members thrive in a supportive and dynamic atmosphere.

The Lead Chef position at Brookdale offers a unique opportunity to join an award-winning team passionate about delivering nutritious and creative meals tailored to the preferences and dietary needs of seniors. This role is designed for culinary professionals who enjoy exercising creativity in menu planning and recipe development while maintaining high standards of food safety and kitchen operations. Unlike many culinary positions, this role does not require late-night shifts or chaotic weekends, promoting a balanced lifestyle for the chef. Employees have the chance to work with thousands of recipes, contribute their personal touches, and influence the dining experience positively by incorporating resident feedback into menu creation.

As a Lead Chef at Brookdale, you will oversee all daily kitchen operations with a focus on quality, consistency, and presentation of meals served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Beyond culinary duties, this role emphasizes leadership; you will be responsible for managing staff schedules, training new team members, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Your leadership will support a positive work environment and contribute to the overall wellness and satisfaction of residents. The position offers both part-time and full-time employment options, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), employee discounts, and wellness programs.

Brookdale also values and supports its associates' career growth, offering tuition reimbursement and various voluntary benefits. The company actively encourages veterans, active-duty military personnel transitioning to civilian life, and military spouses to apply, providing support such as naturalization fee assistance for eligible employees. The work environment involves physical activity including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds, interaction with co-workers and residents, plus adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations. Occasional weekend and evening shifts might be required, ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly across all meal service times.

This role requires a passion for culinary arts combined with strong organizational skills, creativity in developing healthy and appealing recipes, and an understanding of the senior living dining experience. If you are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors through excellent food and leadership, Brookdale is an outstanding place to elevate your career in culinary management.
