The Lead Cashier (LC) position at Ulta Beauty plays a critical leadership role in maintaining excellence at the cashwrap area while enhancing guest experience through efficient transactions and superior service delivery. The Lead Cashier contributes to store success by ensuring fast and accurate guest transactions, maintaining a clean and inviting cashwrap environment, and promoting Ulta Beauty’s Loyalty Life Cycle program—strengthening customer loyalty and driving sales including credit offers.
The LC supports staff development by training new cashiers and cross-training other associates, and takes initiative in facilitating teamwork and collaboration across all associates. This position assists the management team with open and close register functions, conducts cashier chat ins and chat outs, and performs associate exit inspections. Responsibilities also include book appointments for salon services, supporting in-store events, and maintaining cashwrap product and supply displays to optimize guest engagement and impulse purchases.
Success in this role requires a passionate focus on guest service, strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and lead peers effectively, knowledge of Ulta Beauty’s products and loyalty programs, and adherence to company policies and store standards — all contributing to a superior retail and service experience. The role demands a commitment to embodying Ulta Beauty’s vision, mission, and values while driving performance goals related to sales, shrink reduction, guest loyalty, and employee development.
As a dynamic position interacting directly with guests and associates, the Lead Cashier serves as a brand ambassador and key player in achieving store objectives by fostering a guest-friendly environment, organizing cashier transactions flawlessly, and supporting a motivated and well-trained cashier team. This role requires flexibility in scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and candidates must be 18 years or older. Technical proficiency with point-of-sale systems and smart devices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt to fast-paced retail settings are essential qualities for success at Ulta Beauty as a Lead Cashier.
