The role of Lead Cashier at Ulta Beauty is a pivotal one. This position is integral to ensuring the efficiency and smoothness of guest transactions while maintaining exemplary cashwrap standards that include cleanliness and aesthetics. The Lead Cashier is not only skilled in cashiering but also plays a leadership role by training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. The position requires collaboration, leadership, and the ability to influence peers positively.
Key responsibilities include focusing on performance aspects such as driving sales, enhancing guest experience, and promoting guest loyalty, including credit program enrollment. The Lead Cashier supports people development by fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment and supporting associate training and development. Moreover, the role includes process management responsibilities, ensuring compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards related to cashiering and store operations, including cash handling, loss prevention, and overall store cleanliness.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering an exceptional guest experience, be proactive in building customer relationships, and display excellence in operational processes. The Lead Cashier must be ready to assist leadership with register open and close functions and assist with store-level operational tasks, including exit inspections and cashier chat ins/outs. A flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required. Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred
- Minimum two years of relevant work experience preferred
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient with basic technology such as Point of Sale system
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to collaborate well with others
- Physical ability to continuously move, bend, twist, lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to handle cash and complete transactions accurately
- Adherence to company policies and dress code
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
- Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and sales
- Experience addressing guest concerns professionally
- Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires
- Proficient with Point of Sale systems and Apple devices
- Excellent written and verbal communication

Job Duties
- Contribute to meeting or exceeding store sales, guest loyalty, and shrink goals
- Provide exceptional guest service through engagement and product recommendations
- Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges with courtesy
- Pair guests with associates for makeup applications and product demonstrations
- Book appointments and support in-store services and events
- Maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures
- Support leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections
