The role of Lead Cashier (LC) at Ulta Beauty is an essential leadership position that ensures the smooth, efficient handling of guest transactions at the cashwrap while upholding the highest company standards for cashiering excellence, store aesthetics, and cleanliness. This full-time role focuses on driving loyalty results by maximizing sales performance, enhancing the guest experience, and training and developing associates in cashiering functions. The Lead Cashier acts as a role model in demonstrating Ulta Beauty’s commitment to exceptional service, guest engagement, and ethical practices in all cashwrap operations.
As a Lead Cashier, you will contribute directly to driving the store's goals including retail and service sales, omni-channel success, guest loyalty accrual, and retail shrink management. You will engage guests warmly, offering personalized product and service recommendations, handling sales transactions efficiently, assisting with makeup applications, skincare consultations, and other services to enrich the customer experience. This role also encompasses administrative responsibilities such as training and mentoring new cashiers, cross-training other associates, and supporting management with open and close register operations and cashier data inspections.
The position demands a strong focus on people skills where you champion an inclusive workplace, support peers and leadership, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence. Regular training is part of this role to ensure continuous professional development and up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, and services, enabling you and your team to deliver value to guests consistently.
The Lead Cashier must also strictly adhere to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and dress code, while maintaining outstanding store standards and contributing to loss prevention and workplace safety. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and is reserved for associates who are at least 18 years of age. Physical demands include mobility throughout the store, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and other activities needed to maintain a dynamic retail environment.

Job Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be at least 18 years old to hold the Lead Cashier role
- Ability to continuously move throughout the store during shifts including twisting
- Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, twisting, and reaching
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds during shifts
- Capability to manipulate objects continuously during shift
- High school diploma preferred
- Two years of relevant experience or equivalent education and work experience preferred

Job Duties
- Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals for retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty including credit, and retail shrink
- Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting, engaging and personalizing service to guests
- Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously
- Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales
- Book appointments and support in-store events that enhance guest experience and sales goals
- Maintain replenishment, organization, and cleanliness of cashwrap displays and supplies
- Support leadership with register open and close functions, cashier inspections, and chats
