Job Description

As an essential part of the retail team, the Lead Cashier (LC) at Ulta Beauty plays a critical role in driving the efficiency of guest transactions while maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, cleanliness, and overall aesthetics. The LC is an experienced cashier who not only manages guest transactions but also assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates, demonstrating leadership skills that foster collaboration, influence, and a positive work environment. This role supports the leadership team with register open and close functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat in/out responsibilities.

The Lead Cashier is deeply committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences by engaging customers and championing Ulta Beauty's Loyalty Life Cycle program. This position focuses on driving sales performance through a strong understanding of product knowledge, personalized service, and loyalty initiatives that include credit and the Ulta Beauty app. The LC proactively contributes to the store’s financial goals by managing retail sales, service sales, omni-channel initiatives, guest loyalty efforts, and shrink reduction. By doing so, the LC ensures that every guest feels valued and that the store operates smoothly and efficiently.

Moreover, the Lead Cashier fosters an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests. This role involves sharing knowledge about new and existing industry trends, products, and services to elevate the customer experience and encourage repeat business. The LC sets an example by maintaining outstanding store standards, including excellent store cleanliness and adherence to company policies and procedures. They also play a vital part in protecting company assets and minimizing loss through strict compliance with workplace safety, inventory control, and loss prevention measures.

The pay range for this position is $16.94 to $22.50 per hour, depending on factors like education, qualifications, certifications, experience, work shift, and geographic location. Full-time associates are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, whereas part-time associates are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Proficient with Point of Sale and Apple devices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, delegate, and solve problems
  • Capacity to handle guest transactions accurately and courteously
  • Physical ability to perform continuous mobility, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other required movements during shifts
  • Commitment to upholding store standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to engage and lead peers

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty including credit, and retail shrink
  • Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending products or services
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously
  • Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations
  • Book appointments and support in-store events to achieve sales goals
  • Maintain replenishment, organization, and maintenance of all cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures
  • Support leadership team with register open and close functions, cashier chat ins/outs, and associate exit inspections
  • Promote an inclusive environment and collaborate with peers
  • Share and lead the benefits of loyalty programs and credit initiatives
  • Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and dress code
  • Protect company assets through loss prevention and inventory control
  • Maintain store cleanliness and operational excellence throughout the store
  • Participate in ongoing training and collaborate to grow the business.
