Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- one year of bakery experience preferred
- current Food Handlers Permit required
- ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
- ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds
- ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the day
- strong communication skills
- ability to follow recipes and adjust them using math skills
- ability to maintain product quality and sanitation standards
- ability to provide mentorship and training to associates
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- one year of bakery experience preferred
- current Food Handlers Permit
- experience decorating cakes quickly and efficiently with professional quality
- experience preparing pastries quickly and efficiently with professional quality
- ability to read and follow recipes
- basic math skills for recipe adjustments
- knowledge of mixing, cooking, baking, and assembling pastries
- excellent organizational and planning skills
- solid communication skills including verbal and listening
- ability to handle conflict professionally
- ability to accept constructive feedback and be accountable
- decision-making skills using recognized techniques
- integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
- passion for Harmons' mission and teamwork
- ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
Job Duties
- Follow established departmental and store policies and procedures
- ensure the quality and freshness of all bakery products and services
- maintain appropriate product assortment and inventory levels
- confirm pricing accuracy and signage, especially for promotional items
- ensure the bakery is cleaned and sanitized daily to company standards
- deliver excellent customer service
- follow production sheets to maintain inventory levels
- ensure correct stock levels of ingredients and supplies
- minimize waste by proper ordering and storage of ingredients
- prepare, cook, bake, assemble, and decorate pastries and cakes
- make frosting for cake decorating
- write production sheets for bakery staff
- assist with test and quarterly inventory
- teach, mentor, and train associates
- provide constructive feedback to bakery associates
- write schedules for pastry chefs and cake decorators
- communicate openly with store leadership and bakery management
