This position is a key leadership role within the food and beverage department, specifically designed for a skilled Lead Bartender. As part of the leadership team, the Lead Bartender is responsible for providing friendly, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service to all guests, while focusing on quality presentation and delivery. The role involves supervising the beverage staff during shifts and supporting the Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef, and Food & Beverage Manager with leadership responsibilities. This position not only ensures that service standards are consistently met but also plays a critical role in maintaining beverage quality and innovating cocktail and menu offerings.
The Lead Bartender will prepare high-quality, freshly crafted cocktails using proper techniques even at high volume and take beverage and food orders at the bar, offering knowledgeable descriptions and product suggestions. They assist in directing the craft spirit, wine, and beer programs while creating craft cocktail menus with an emphasis on classical mixology methods. Working closely with food and beverage leadership, the Lead Bartender contributes to lowering beverage costs by managing par levels, preventing spillage and theft, and developing high-margin programs.
Additionally, this position includes training the bartending team on service standards, product knowledge, and technique. The Lead Bartender ensures all materials and supplies are correctly used and available, prepares house-made spirit infusions, and builds vendor relationships to ensure the bar carries the most up-to-date, high-quality products. The role demands adherence to alcohol beverage control protocols, accurate handling of cash and credit card transactions, and maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the shift.
Physical demands of the job include working in various temperature ranges, standing and moving with agility for extended periods, lifting and pushing heavy equipment, and demonstrating manual dexterity and sensory skills to monitor product quality and safety. Key skills include excellent communication, leadership, organizational skills, and familiarity with bar service, spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles.
Educational requirements include a high school or equivalent education, with a minimum of three years high-volume bar or food service experience. Supervisory or lead bartender experience of at least one year and Micros POS experience are preferred. Certifications required include Safe Server Alcohol and Food Handlers certification, with the candidate being at least 21 years old with the legal right to serve alcohol.

Job Duties

- Perform cash, credit card, and room transactions accurately when necessary
- Maintain and enforce cleanliness standards of the bar
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Provide opening and closing inventory of spirits
- Ensure all liquor, beer and wine product is put away safely and secured
- Participate in deep cleaning of the outlet while overseeing safety of the bar staff
- Assist all guests and staff professionally and courteously
- Ensure that taps, coolers, and other appliances are clean and in working order
- Verify customers identification to confirm legal drinking age
- Ensure minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages
- Perform all other duties assigned by manager or supervisor
