The position of Lead Bartender at Azul Hospitality is designed for a seasoned professional skilled in food and beverage service, customer relations, and team supervision. This role is pivotal in maintaining the highest quality standards of beverage presentation and customer satisfaction during service hours. As part of the leadership team, the Lead Bartender supervises beverage staff and supports key management figures including the Director of Food & Beverage, Executive Chef, and Food & Beverage Manager. Responsibilities encompass preparing high-quality cocktails efficiently, managing inventory, enforcing alcohol control policies, and contributing creatively to cocktail menus with a focus on classic mixology techniques. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol
- high school diploma or equivalent education
- three years of high-volume bar or food service experience
- safe server alcohol and food handlers certification
- ability to stand and exert mobility for up to four hours
- ability to lift up to 45 lbs
- ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs
- ability to work in moderate and extreme temperatures
- ability to maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
- must comply with Azul Hospitality attendance and conduct standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- three years of high-volume bar or food service experience
- at least one year of supervisory or lead bartender experience preferred
- safe server alcohol and food handlers certification required
- micros system experience preferred
- excellent leadership and customer relations skills
- detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- basic computer skills including knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS
- knowledgeable about spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles
- ability to work independently and self-driven
- proficient in table and bar service
- good verbal and written communication skills
Job Duties
- Prepare high-quality, freshly crafted cocktails at high volume with proper technique
- take beverage and food orders at the bar
- describe menu items and suggest products to customers
- assist in directing craft spirits, wine, and beer programs
- create craft cocktail menus with emphasis on classical mixology methods
- work with food and beverage director to manage beverage costs by controlling par levels and preventing theft
- ensure service standards are met and guest satisfaction is prioritized
- train bartending team on service standards, product knowledge, and technique
- manage bar materials and supplies to ensure availability and consistency
- prepare house-made spirit infusions and build vendor relationships
- enforce alcohol control protocols and policies
- handle cash, credit card, and room transactions as needed
- maintain cleanliness standards from start to finish of shifts
- restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- provide opening and closing inventory
- safely secure all liquor, beer, and wine
- participate in deep cleaning and oversee bar staff safety
- assist guests and staff professionally with high customer service standards
- ensure taps, coolers and appliances like blenders are clean and functional
- verify legal drinking age and refuse service to minors and intoxicated persons
- perform additional duties as assigned
- follow company safety and security policies
- report maintenance issues and hazards
- assist with guest inquiries
- perform other job duties as requested by supervisors
