This position is for a Lead Bartender who plays a crucial role in delivering friendly, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service to all guests, focusing on quality presentation and consistency. As a leader in the beverage department, the Lead Bartender supervises the bartending staff during shifts while supporting upper management, including the Director of Food & Beverage, the Executive Chef, and the Food & Beverage Manager, in their leadership and operational responsibilities. The role involves preparing high-quality, freshly crafted cocktails utilizing classical mixology techniques and overseeing beverage programs that include craft spirits, wine, and beer. The Lead Bartender is responsible for creatively designing the craft cocktail menu, maintaining inventory and par levels, minimizing waste, and enforcing alcohol control protocols diligently.
Additionally, this position requires training and mentoring the beverage staff on service standards, product knowledge, and bartending techniques, ensuring all staff adhere to cleanliness, safety regulations, and efficient service flow. The Lead Bartender must exhibit excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of building great vendor relationships to keep the bar stocked with high-quality, up-to-date products. They also handle transactions accurately and participate actively in maintaining the bar's physical condition, including deep cleaning and equipment checks. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol
- high school diploma or equivalent education
- three years high volume bar or food service experience
- one year supervisory or lead bartender experience preferred
- Safe Server Alcohol and Food Handlers certification required
- ability to lift up to 45 lbs
- ability to stand and exert mobility up to four hours
- must work in temperature extremes including cold freezers and hot kitchens
- good communication skills
- basic computer proficiency
- must maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
- willingness to follow company safety and security policies
- regular attendance and punctuality
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand the primary workplace language
- adherence to alcohol control policies
- ability to work varied schedules as required by business needs
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- three years of high volume bar or food service experience
- at least one year of supervisory or lead bartender experience preferred
- knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles
- excellent communication and leadership skills
- good organizational and detail orientation
- basic computer skills including Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS knowledge
- Safe Server Alcohol and Food Handlers certification
- ability to work independently
- knowledge of table and bar service
- experience with Micros system preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare high-quality, freshly crafted cocktails at high volume with proper technique
- take beverage and food orders at the bar
- describe menu items and suggest products to customers
- assist in directing the craft spirit, wine, and beer programs
- create craft cocktail menus emphasizing classical mixology
- work with food and beverage director to lower beverage costs by maintaining accurate par levels and preventing spillage or theft
- ensure proper service standards with commitment to guest satisfaction
- train bartending team on service standards, product knowledge, and techniques
- ensure proper materials and supplies are available and used consistently
- prepare house made spirit infusions
- build vendor relationships and ensure bar inventory is up to date
- train beverage staff on alcohol beverage control protocols and enforce policies
- perform cash, credit card, and room transactions accurately
- maintain cleanliness standards of the bar
- restock and replenish inventory and supplies
- provide opening and closing inventory
- secure all liquor, beer, and wine products
- participate in deep cleaning
- assist guests and staff professionally and courteously
- ensure taps, coolers, and equipment are clean and functional
- verify customer identification and legal drinking age
- prevent service to minors and intoxicated persons
- perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
