Job Description
The hiring establishment is a prestigious private club known for its exceptional service, welcoming atmosphere, and high standards in food and beverage offerings. The club prides itself on creating a warm and engaging environment for its members and guests, ensuring a memorable experience in every aspect of its operations. As a leader in the hospitality industry, this club caters to a discerning clientele who expect impeccable service, sophisticated drink selections, and a refined ambiance. The club employs a dedicated Food & Beverage team to uphold its reputation, and the Lead Bartender & Sommelier position is a key role within this team.
The Lead Bartender & Sommelier serves as both a leader and a specialist within the club's beverage program. This full-time position offers an hourly wage of $29 and includes comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the club's 401(k) plan, paid time off, holiday pay, and holiday bonuses. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bartending and beverage service, especially in leadership roles within a similar upscale hospitality setting.
In this role, the Lead Bartender & Sommelier is responsible for maintaining a welcoming, friendly, and professional bar environment that aligns with the club’s standards. This role includes supervising other bartenders to ensure that all drink recipes and procedural protocols are followed accurately. The individual will train bartenders on drink curation, standard bar recipes, and customer service to maintain quality and consistency.
Additionally, the role involves assisting with wine inventory management and maintaining the wine cellar, ensuring all stock levels are sufficient and properly tracked. The Lead Bartender & Sommelier will also manage inventory in designated cellar areas and oversee the preparation and management of event bars, particularly for large-scale functions. A key part of the role is to uphold compliance with all regulatory requirements, including verifying the age of patrons in line with OLCC standards and not serving alcohol to intoxicated guests.
This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Lead Bartender & Sommelier will also be responsible for opening and closing the bars, ensuring cleanliness and adequate supplies, preparing garnishes, mixes, and pre-mixed drinks, and maintaining equipment. An important aspect of the job is developing and maintaining positive relationships with members, remembering them by name, and engaging them warmly while providing attentive service.
Working at various bars throughout the club, including the Turn Bar, Grille Bar, Event Bars, and others, the Lead Bartender & Sommelier must be flexible and adaptable. The job also involves coordination with wait staff and supporting service delivery during busy hours. Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor are essential to succeed in this role.
Overall, this position is perfect for a seasoned beverage professional who thrives in a dynamic, upscale environment and enjoys leading a team to deliver exceptional service. The role offers not only a competitive salary but also excellent benefits and the chance to grow within a respected private club that values its staff and members equally.
