This role is that of a Lead Banquet Captain, a crucial leadership position within the banquet team. The Lead Banquet Captain is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the entire banquet function, ensuring that every aspect of service runs smoothly from setup to breakdown. The individual in this role acts as the primary point of contact on the banquet floor, guiding staff, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a high standard of service that reflects the company’s values. This hands-on leadership position requires superb organizational skills, an ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments, and a commitment to excellence in guest service.

The Lead Banquet Captain will supervise the preparation and execution of banquet events, working closely with culinary teams and event coordinators to ensure that all details align perfectly. Responsibilities include managing food and beverage service, delegating tasks to banquet staff, verifying inventory, and monitoring service quality during events. Additionally, this role involves conducting pre-event meetings with staff to review appearance standards, assignments, and event specifics, ensuring that every team member is prepared and informed.

The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $19.00 to $20.00 and includes benefits typically available to part-time employees, such as a 401(k) savings plan and matching contributions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • 1-2 years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6 plus months leading banquets preferred
  • must meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages

Job Duties

  • Supervises the setup execution and breakdown of both remote and stationary retail food or bar locations
  • sets up and tends bar as required
  • organizes and delegates tasks to staff before during and after retail and catering events
  • assists managers with bar retail and catering inventories
  • takes and passes alcoholic beverage service training
  • reviews assigned banquet staff functions and banquet menus prior to the scheduled event
  • conducts pre banquet meetings with staff to ensure appearance and hygiene standards are met assign stations and partners and review banquet event orders
  • communicates with the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager or event coordinator to ensure all details have been planned for and met and any changes are made in a timely manner
  • ensures appropriate quantities of china glassware silverware linens and other items are available or requisitioned for events
  • checks room setup prior to event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen
  • ensures proper handling and storage of all equipment such as china glassware silverware linens and props
  • conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service quality including food temperature placement availability and upsell opportunities
  • regularly reviews banquet schedule calendar of events and special events
  • incorporates safe work practices in job performance
  • maintains regular and reliable attendance
  • performs other duties as required
