Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing or walking 6-8 hours per 8-hour shift
  • Hand use includes grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures of up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Mixes, divides, shapes, proofs, and bakes bread and bakery products to Whole Foods Market specifications
  • Maintains accurate mix times, temperature logs, and production records
  • Develops, adjusts, and communicates daily production schedules with other bakers and team
  • Ensures consistency of daily production in terms of quantity and quality
  • Routinely assesses production outcomes to maintain quality standards
  • Prepares, packages, weighs, and prices products for sale
  • Monitors product quality and freshness and ensures proper product rotation
  • Provides outstanding customer service
  • Mentors, coaches, and trains other bakers to maintain consistency and quality
  • Arrives to work on time, appropriately groomed and dressed
  • Provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
  • Follows and ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Reports safety hazards immediately
  • Utilizes proper production tools to maximize sales and reduce shrink
  • Supports training and onboarding bakers in the store and other locations
