Job Description

Denver Health is a renowned integrated academic health care system, widely recognized as a national model for comprehensive and high-quality medical services. Situated near downtown Denver, this extensive health network includes a Level I Trauma Center, a 555-bed acute care medical center, 10 family health centers, 19 school-based health centers, and several specialized entities such as Rocky Mountain Poison & Drug Safety, a Public Health Institute, an HMO, and The Denver Health Foundation. As Colorado's primary safety-net institution, Denver Health serves over 185,000 patients and 67,000 children annually and has provided billions in uncompensated care, reinforcing its vital role as an anchor institution in the community. Their dedication to community welfare involves local hiring, supporting local purchasing, and addressing regional health needs, embodying values of respect, belonging, accountability, and transparency. Employees at Denver Health find themselves at the heart of a mission-driven workplace with rich cultural and recreational opportunities nearby in Denver.

The Laundry Worker position within Denver Health's Laundry and Linen Department offers an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals to contribute directly to the hospital's operations by managing laundry and linen services essential to hospital hygiene and patient care. This role entails sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and packing hospital laundry and linen under close supervision to ensure each department receives the correct linens. Laundry Workers play a fundamental part in maintaining hospital cleanliness standards by determining whether garments go into tumblers or ironers, folding sheets using specialized folders, marking linens appropriately, and reporting equipment malfunctions. Unlike roles requiring extensive experience, this position is welcoming to candidates with no prior work experience or formal education beyond high school, emphasizing the importance of organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail.

This is a regular full-time role with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $24.50, reflecting the significance of this essential service within the hospital setting. Employees are supported with outstanding benefits including up to 27 paid days off per year, employer retirement contributions up to 9.5%, comprehensive medical plans, free public transportation access, an on-site fitness center, childcare discounts, tuition reimbursement, professional development pathways, and loan forgiveness program eligibility. The ideal candidate will be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods and possess the ability to assess cleaning needs independently while maintaining customer-focused communication with colleagues, physicians, patients, and visitors. This role demands confidentiality in handling sensitive patient information and promotes a respectful, empathetic workplace culture.

Joining Denver Health as a Laundry Worker means becoming part of a dynamic team that values inclusivity and community connection, offering both personal growth and the satisfaction of contributing to the health and well-being of thousands. This position is an excellent entry point into the healthcare environment with opportunities for future advancement through Denver Health’s education and development programs. Applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug test as Denver Health upholds safety as a priority. Candidates eager to contribute to a mission-oriented organization that emphasizes humanity in action, triumph over hardship, and health transformation are encouraged to apply until the position is filled.
