Job Requirements
- Able to read, write, speak and understand English
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- able to stand and stoop for extended periods
- able to lift up to 25 pounds
- able to push/pull up to 100 pounds
- able to respond to emergency situations
- able to remember verbal and written tasks for an 8 hour shift
- able to concentrate on minimal detail with some interruptions
- adhere to departmental dress code
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- experience operating laundry equipment preferred
- ability to follow safety and infection control procedures
- capacity to work well with residents and team members
- attention to detail
- ability to maintain accurate records
- strong communication skills
Job Duties
- Collect residents' soiled linens and clothing
- sort and remove stains
- operate equipment such as washer and dryer with minimal supervision
- report malfunctions to supervisor
- remove linen/clothing from dryers
- sort for distribution
- hang or iron as required
- fold, count and stack linens according to department, unit or supply room
- maintain records of linen usage
- notify supervisor of needs
- place linens on carts, clothing on racks and distribute to appropriate departments/residents
- stamp all linens as needed
- fill emergency requisitions for extra linens
- inspect linens for wear and tear
- dispose of or set aside for repairs as directed by supervisor
- clean equipment and work area daily or as scheduled including wet/dry mopping and washing tables and fixtures
- follow established regulations/policies when handling linens
- work effectively with residents, staff and supervisors
- handle soiled linen/clothing according to established infection control procedures
- properly maintain supplies and equipment
- attend inservice training programs
- maintain a positive, pleasant attitude
- treat residents with respect and courtesy
- assist in the Housekeeping Department as needed
- perform other duties as assigned
