Job Description

Parks Tacoma is a CAPRA-accredited and AZA-accredited independent park district serving the Tacoma, Washington community. With a mission to build a healthy and sustainable community through creating opportunities to play, learn, and grow, Parks Tacoma operates more than 70 parks, 80 miles of trails, urban forests, playgrounds, community centers, and zoological and wildlife parks including the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. Established as the oldest independent park district in Washington state, the organization emphasizes eight core values including innovation, excellence, equity, inclusiveness, sustainability, accountability, safety, and fun.

Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, one of Parks Tacoma's premier facilities, is a 725-acre zoological park dedicated to the conservation, education, and recreation of native Northwest wildlife and their habitats. Opened in 1975 and attracting over 200,000 visitors per year, the park is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA), ensuring high standards of animal welfare, veterinary care, conservation, and education. The Lakeside Lodging Concierge position is an integral role within this unique wildlife setting, focused on enhancing the guest experience through hospitality, safety, and operational support in the park's lodging facilities, which include A-Frame cabins, cottages, and other accommodations.

The Lakeside Lodging Concierge serves as the on-site host and primary park representative during overnight stays, blending hospitality and safety oversight with operational assistance. This role demands a strong ability to communicate effectively, work independently in a remote outdoor environment, and manage the lodging area while responding promptly and professionally to guest needs and emergencies. Responsibilities include greeting guests, facilitating check-ins and check-outs, providing orientation about park amenities and wildlife, ensuring guest safety, conducting routine site checks, and supporting recreation operational activities. The concierge acts as the primary contact during overnight hours and is expected to maintain a safe, welcoming, and informative atmosphere for all visitors.

This role requires flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and potentially extended shifts. Staff members are equipped with radios and communication devices to stay connected with park leadership and emergency services. Comprehensive training in safety procedures, emergency response, and guest management is provided to ensure readiness for guest support and crisis situations. The position demands the ability to stay calm under pressure, collateral excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, and dedication to inclusiveness and equity.

Working as the Lakeside Lodging Concierge at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park offers the fulfilling opportunity to contribute to the mission of awakening a connection to wildlife in the Pacific Northwest while providing high-quality guest service within a stunning natural environment. Candidates seeking a dynamic, guest-facing role with varied responsibilities and the chance to work in a nationally accredited wildlife park setting will find this position rewarding, challenging, and impactful.
