- capability to use laboratory analyzers and information systems like Orchard LIS

- reliable communication skills to liaise with lab managers and healthcare providers
- physical ability to stand continuously, sit and walk frequently, and occasionally lift items
- adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of bio-hazard materials

Job Duties
- Ability to perform urinalysis, rapid strep, mono, flu, RSV, accucheck, urine pregnancy, lead, T. bilirubin, ISTAT, Affirm VP III, and Alere Triage tests
- perform finger sticks, heel sticks, and venipuncture to obtain specimens for testing
- analyze patient specimens on hematology analyzer
- prepare specimens and paperwork to be sent to LabCorp, NHRMC, OMH, or main lab
- collection and mailing of PKU and sickle cell filter paper tests to the state laboratory
- instruct patients on correct procedures for collecting clean catch urine specimens
- prepare specimens for microscopic review
- set up and read ESR’s
- send appropriate letters to parents when children need to repeat PKU, sickle cell, and/or lead testing
- keep lab supplies stocked
- analyze samples for proficiency testing
- oversee operation of lab and communicate with site and lab managers
- bring critical lab results to attention of providers
- check and log temperatures of fridge, room, incubator, freezer, and humidity
- correctly package and prepare bio-hazard materials for transport
- run controls of newly opened kits per package insert
- clean lab counters daily and after spills, recording on cleaning calendar
- prepare control data for monthly evaluation and peer-group comparison
- utilize Orchard LIS system for lab order entry, result entry, patient inquiry, editing results or orders
- utilize EMR and EPM systems for lab needs
- perform all other duties as assigned by Lab Manager
